Patent Essentiality

The IPEC services are provided in response to an industrial need for patent holders to understand what they have (basically can they monetize commercially the true value of their patents in specific transactions such as licensing, a sale, in a M&A deal, in litigation, in membership of a patent aggregation, etc). If you are the holder of an “essential-patent” certified by IPEC then you have a much greater chance of generating commercial value globally.

Evaluation

IPEC is an industry-credible, neutral, independent third-party patent essentiality evaluation provider with extensive worldwide experience with major international corporations. IPEC was formed in 2002 to undertake exclusively patent essentiality determinations for patents included in the W-CDMA Patent Pool (the dominant global 3G mobile technology). IPEC continues to fulfil that role today as the authorised evaluator.
